Lil Rubbish Collective with Haddstock

Join Lil on a walking litter pick around the hospital grounds and down Hospital Road to Station Yard. Litter you collect will then be creatively transformed into a central, interactive artwork for the Haddstock Festival by MADE.

Meet at 10am at the Lil Gazebo at the front of the hospital

Equipment can be provided but if you have gloves or litter pickers do bring them along. More the merrier!

There will also be a BioBlitz (running 10 til 3pm, drop in) to record nature around the hospital grounds) and a chance to explore the site through Art with Fantoosh Sketching (requires separate booking here).

Scottish Coastal Clean Up - Berwick to Edinburgh

Lil is delighted to again be co-ordinating the Scottish Coastal Clean Up - Edinburgh to Berwick Upon Tweed from June 4 to June 8. Grab some mates, your gloves and help us #dolilthings by picking up litter at a beach or by a waterway near you!

With huge thanks to Taylor Wimpey East Scotland for making Lil’s contribution possible, we’re thrilled to help our communities take part in what’s an even bigger event this year, with Caledonian Horticulture taking on more of the East coast, right up to Aberdeen. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from joining in from further afield, please just plug in your planned clean on our map .

Lil Litter Clean Up & Seaweed Hunt

We are really looking forward to seeing you all at the beach tomorrow. It is often cooler there than inland so take an extra layer. Shoes for exploring the rocky shore are a wise precaution against slips. The forecast is for sunshine (yay!) so sunscreen, hats and a water bottle at the ready. We'll meet in the playpark from 2pm and set off for the beach around 2.15pm. Catch us up if you come later (down to beach turn left).

During the afternoon you can hear from Janet Khan, Senior Scientist with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency about seaweeds, why they are important and even which ones you could eat!

The UK is home to a particularly high diversity of species, and is a special place for seaweeds. Unfortunately, seaweeds are not as popular as flowers, butterflies or birds, so fewer people make and submit observations of them so we'll complete a survey for the Big Seaweed Search too. ( More info herehttp://www.nhm.ac.uk/…/citizen-scie…/big-seaweed-search.html ) Come along and put your citizen scientist hat on for the afternoon!
